A message about the album from Pepper:

In the begining of 2006 we headed into the next studio adventure. Still untitled at this point, we started to utilize major label opportunities. With time (and money) on our side, we were able to work at our convenience and with people we really wanted to (Paul Leary, Nick Hexum, Tony Canal, Micheal Patterson, just to name a few). We found that during this process it kept the recording experience fresh and unpredictable. With so many wonderful people involved the music felt great and we had complete confidence that it was being captured correctly.

Then came a speed bump. The A&R of Atlantic didn't hear a "single". The record lacked "pop notoriety" and so they flew us to New York to "hunt down a single."

When we landed we were taken to a studio named Pop Rocks. That should tell you everything. After going through songs and ideas they found one that they thought was a "break through pop hybrid reggae smash!!!!" What happened was they stripped this sick song called "The Whistle Song," turned it into a bubble pop shit piece, and renamed it "Chop Sugar."

We all left the studio shocked that they turned a demo that had a feeling like old dub shack into some God awful cross-over radio attempt. Needless to say that track never made the album. After sending us back to Cali to record in a another studio we changed it back to it orginal form with a little more of a live feel. But it still wasn't as great as the demo. They weren't too happy with us, but fuck that. Chop Sugar my asshole, burn that track.

Although the excersize was a failure, it was good to go through it just to see how desperate other record companies were for anything that would generate money. Atlantic soon dropped us after that. But there are no hard feelings because with their leaving us they GAVE us No Shame!!! Just GAVE us the album. And let us become Free Agents!!!! We were now in position to move forward with no strings or arms holding us down. Enter.........

LAW RECORDS!!!!! Now that we had NO SHAME we were able to sell and release it with our own record label.

All in all, No Shame was the most exciting album to me. There was so much going on at that time and the songs really refelect everything happening at that time of life.

I hope you enjoy as well.
